救人一命，即救世界
Whosoever saves a single life is as if he had saved the whole world.
这句话，我最早在电影“辛德勒名单”中听到。被辛德勒救助的犹太人在德军战败获得自由之后，送别辛德勒的时候说了这句话。
我当时觉得这句话非常震撼，因此印象极其深刻。但直到今天，读了 Erich Fromm 的 The Art of Loving 这本书之后，才了解到它的由来。
平等(Equality)，最早在宗教里面意味着我们都是上帝的子民 (We are all God's children)，因此我们就是一个整体(We are all ONE)。不但如此，我们中的每一个又都是特别的个体，我们每一个人本身就是一个世界 (Each one of us is a unique entity, is a cosmos by itself)。
这种尊重每个人的概念，在犹太教的教义里面，被表述成： Whosoever saves a single life is as if he had saved the whole world; whosoever destroys a single life is as if he had destroyed the whole world.
于是也就不奇怪，为什么追求人人平等，尊重每个人的权利，是西方社会的基本信条。
所以我在DC的韩战和越战纪念碑上面看到每个战亡士兵的名字；而在中国的土地上这样的事情似乎从来没有被做过。

recently when I do my dissertation, I found the number of people you know is highly related with the performance of your company, but what is the exact rule behind it? through data I found the log function of the number of your social ties is positively related with performance.
performance= a +0.4log(number of social ties)
this is one of regression equations that may be true.
interesting or not?

in fact we use a lot of statistic in psychology every day, although this can not ensure the scientific of Psychology, however, compare with other disciplines I am sure the research design in psychology is mostly high.
Sorry, sorry. I was not trying to look down psychology. With your introducing, I have learned a lot about this science.
